The sense of hearing is one of very important senses of our life. Sense of hearing not only provides joy of sound in our life but also an important prerequisite for speech and language development in children.

Hearing impairment in children can leads to disruption in their speech and language development and in adults can leads to feeling of frustration, less social interaction and confused.

Pure tone audiometry is a common hearing test done on adult population in order to assess their hearing difficulty. Hearing difficulty can occur at any age of life. Some type of hearing difficulty may not need medical/doctor attention and an audiologist can help the patient directly prescribing hearing aids.

Conditioning Pure tone play audiometry method is another common hearing test done on young children to test their hearing.

This test checks the functions of middle ear. It assess the movement of ear drum and other structures of of middle ear.

Behavioural observation audiometry is done on very young children to check their behavioural response to sounds.

ABR is an evoked potential extracted from on going electrical activity in brain in response to click or tone tip stimuli and recorded via electrodes placed on forehead and mastoid.

OAEs are sound given off by the inner ear when cochlea is stimulated by sound. These sounds vibrate the outer hair cell. The vibration produces a nearly inaudible sound that echoes back in to middle ear. These sound can be measured with a small probe inserted into the ear canal.
